Young Adults from New Mexico find Healing from Wilderness Therapy

With high expectations during the crucial transitional period of young adulthood, it is no wonder that so many young men and women struggle during this time. Wilderness therapy designed for New Mexico young adults offers a powerful opportunity to realize who they are, where they want to go, and what they need to do to get there.

Some young women and men struggle to launch into successful academic careers, others find a lack of motivation to pursue their highest dreams. No matter what our young adults are having difficulty with, wilderness therapy is a powerful therapeutic intervention that helps interrupt negative thinking and behavior patterns. By understanding their core beliefs, students can work on getting rid of beliefs that are not serving them while also replacing them with healthy, positive core beliefs.

Finding Real, Lasting Change at Wilderness Therapy For New Mexico Young Adults

BlueFire Pulsar is a wilderness therapy program for young adults ages 18-28. The program is specifically designed for working with the distinct needs of this age group, including transferable skills, adventure therapy, and transition planning. While individual goals vary, our mission is to help each client achieve independence and healthy relationships. Based in Idaho, BlueFire Pulsar supports New Mexico young adults as they rediscover their true selves.

How can three months of wilderness therapy provide life-long change? With wilderness therapy, young adults participate in a life-changing opportunity that helps them see themselves for who they really are. Nature does not respond to attempts to manipulate, and avoidance and distraction patterns have real consequences. It is a powerful realization for young adults to see the results of their decisions and choices right in front of them. BlueFire Pulsar does this with the help of skilled clinicians, experienced guides, and the encouraging peer group.

Empowering Young Adults from New Mexico through Adventure Therapy

Located in the beautiful high plains desert in south central Idaho, BlueFire Pulsar helps young adults from New Mexico and across the country recognize and build their sense of self-worth. With our Adventure Therapy Program, we utilize scalable activities that are designed to be appropriately challenging. Young adults will find ease with certain activities and challenge with others, and this is very intentional. By getting students out of their comfort zone, we are shifting them towards growth and change.

Daily Activities for Long-term Change

All of the day-to-day activities in our program are designed to foster self-sufficiency and independence. Some of these activities include: waking at sun-up, daily meditation and goal, individual and group goal setting, meal prep, and group therapy. We want our students to feel empowered to move forward, knowing they have the skills and capabilities to thrive.

Comprehensive Clinical Programming

Our setting allows for in-the-moment feedback that is a powerful tool for our young adult students. They are able to recognize their strengths and areas of growth and understand negative patterns. We provide the most clinical hours of any wilderness therapy program with:

- Four days of therapeutic support each week from clinical professionals.

- Two days each week of individual therapy.

- Weekly equine therapy.

- Family programming specific to each client’s needs.
