Alex Priaulx
My name is Alex Priaulx and I am the Assistant Field Director and Recruiter at blueFire! I grew up in Eugene, Oregon and spent most of my childhood either playing sports or exploring the outdoors around my family’s home or our cabin near Crater Lake. As a kid, it was common for my friends and I to spend from sunrise to sunset in the woods behind my house building forts, splashing through creeks, and eating nothing but blackberries and filberts. After graduating from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) I spent ten years in Portland and loved the outdoor community and the access to beautiful places like the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast and Mount Hood.
My background is in education and work with children in the foster care system and I found the perfect combination of my passions when I came to blueFire as a Field Instructor. With my experience teaching middle school, I quickly found my specialty at blueFire working with our Embers (11-14 y/o boys) group. To say that I found my dream job would be an understatement!
In my current role, I help build our awesome Field team and empower our Instructors to make a difference in the lives of our kiddos! What I value most about blueFire is the opportunity to work with such a dedicated, passionate group of people. Are you dreaming of a career full of outdoor adventures and helping others? Come work with us!
My favorite quote is “When joy is a habit, love is a reflex” – Author Bob Goff. That means that a consistent practice of finding joy in life will naturally lead to a loving and compassionate reaction towards others, without conscious effort. I do my best to bring that approach into my work at blueFire and all areas of life.
